Why SERVPRO: Fire Restoration Experts

12/7/2020 (Permalink)

Your home is the place where your family gathers and makes memories. After a home fire, it is devastating to see the damage to your home. After the local fire authorities say it’s safe to re-enter your home, there are a few things that increase the likelihood of successful restoration. SERVPRO of Lakeway Westlake are trained experts in water removal, smoke cleaning, soot damage, and odor removal and know what it takes to restore your home to preloss condition.

SERVPRO follows a  seven step process to restore your home and belongings.

Step 1: Emergency Contact

The restoration process begins when you call. Our representative will ask questions regarding the fire damage event that will help us respond immediately with the appropriate equipment and resources.

Step 2: Inspection and Fire Damage Assessment

When we arrive, SERVPRO carefully inspects and tests adjoining rooms of your property to determine the extent of the fire, smoke, and soot damage. This step is crucial to developing a plan of action.  We offer our Contents Claim Inventory Service (CCIS), which provides a detailed and accurate list of your belongings. We take a room-by-room inventory of your contents, including digital photos, and in some instances, bar coding. This is very helpful with insurance claims.

Step 3: Immediate Board-Up and Roof-Tarp Service

Fire damage often compromises windows, walls, and roofs. To maintain security and to protect against secondary damage, we can board up missing windows and walls and place tarps on damaged roofs.

Step 4 Water Removal if Necessary

Firefighters use large amounts of water to save your home from flames. SERVPRO uses specialized equipment for water extraction. Once most of the water is removed we use dehumidifiers and air movers to remove and dry any remaining water.

Step 5:  Soot Removal

Part of smoke damage is soot, the black substance left by the smoke of the fire. SERVPRO uses specialized equipment and techniques to remove smoke and soot from ceilings, walls, and other surfaces.

Step 6: Cleaning and Sanitizing

SERVPRO technicians are trained to remove odors using industrial air scrubbers and fogging equipment.

We clean, sanitize, and disinfect all of the restorable items and structures that were damaged by the fire. We use a variety of cleaning techniques to restore your belongings to pre-fire condition.

Step 7 Restoration

Restoration is the final step—getting your home or business to its pre-fire condition. Restoration may involve minor repairs, such as replacing drywall, painting, and installing new carpet; or it may entail major repairs such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business.

As devastating as a home fire is, it’s important to assess the damage and start the cleanup process immediately. Bear in mind these tips, and reach out to SERVPRO of Lakeway / Westlake for effective restoration of your home.

Whether you need help with all or part of your restoration, the trained professionals as SERVPRO of Lakeway / Westlake will work with you and your insurance treating you with respect and care you need during this time.
